Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Bogotá

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a professional guide and transferred to your hotel.
You will stay at a selected hotel.

Day 2: Bogotá City Tour

Welcome to Bogotá, Colombia’s capital and largest city, ideal for all types of visitors. During the Bogotá city tour, you will experience the territory’s past, present, and future.

Your day will start with breakfast and a visit to the tourist attractions of the La Candelaria Historical Center.

You will stay at a selected hotel.

Includes: Private transportation from the hotel to the city center (for passengers staying in the north of the City), professional guide, tickets to the Gold Museum (closed on Mondays*), Botero Museum (closed on Tuesdays*), and Monserrate, lunch, snack, breakfast, and selected accommodation.

*Alternatively, visit the Museum of Bogotá.

Day 3: Bogotá - Salt Cathedral - Coffee Region

Start the day with breakfast, followed by a visit to the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá. After that, transfer to the airport for a flight (not included) to the Coffee Region. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a professional guide and transferred to the hotel.

Day 4: Salento, Cócora Valley, and Filandia

After breakfast, you will visit the Cocora Valley, renowned for the Cera Palm, Colombia’s national tree, known for its impressive height of up to 70 meters. You can enjoy a leisurely walk along its mountain trails for up to 2 hours to take in the stunning landscape. Then, you’ll explore the town of Salento, the oldest municipality in the department, known for its colorful architecture and traditional atmosphere. The next stop will be the Municipality of Filandia, located approximately 40 minutes from Salento. This charming coffee town is famed for its colorful door frames and windows, creating a vibrant street art scene. It has been recognized as the winner of the Best Tourism Village 2023 program by the World Tourism Organization.

Includes: transportation, entrance to the palm forest, a guided tour, hydration, a typical lunch, a snack, and entrance to the Bejuco al Canasto Interpretation Center, breakfast, and the selected accommodation.

Day 5: Coffee and Biodiversity

The day begins with breakfast, followed by a tour of the municipality of Calarcá, known as “La Villa del Cacique”, and the birthplace of poets. This tour will focus on the area’s architecture, including its large traditional houses, market square, and the paintings by local artists on its main streets. Following this, you will continue the tour in a Willys Jeep, where you’ll get to see the coffee landscape, fruit trees, birds, and flowers, and witness the daily life of the locals. You will also have the opportunity to meet a family who transitioned to a life in coffee production after being affected by the armed conflict in Colombia. This family will warmly welcome you and share their knowledge about the coffee production process, from selecting seeds to roasting the beans. Before departing, you will have the chance to savor a delicious typical lunch prepared by “the mom” and enjoy a cup of coffee. 

The day will conclude with a Patacón Workshop where you will learn about the banana planting process and how to prepare patacones with their accompaniments: hogao, guacamole, and shredded meat or chicken.

Day 6:Coffee region - Cartagena.

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for the flight to Cartagena (not included). Upon arrival, a professional guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel.

In the afternoon, an exploration of the local cuisine offers an authentic way to learn about the culture of the area. This will involve tasting various street foods, allowing you to experience the real Cartagena and interact with street vendors. The tour will cover a wide range of foods, including tropical fruits, stuffed arepas, empanadas, and more. It is recommended to notify in advance in case of allergies or dietary restrictions.

Day 7: Cartagena City Tour

Our tour starts with a transfer from the Historic Center to the Popa Convent, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Next, we will visit the largest fortress built by the Spanish in South America, the San Felipe de Barajas fort, and explore some of its tunnels and the statue of Don Blas de Lezo. After that, we will head to the center of Cartagena to stroll through its main streets and squares.

The guide will share interesting facts about the history of Cartagena, including legends and pirate stories. You will have the opportunity to explore the Historic Center with an expert guide who will provide detailed insights into the past and present of Cartagena, as you visit landmarks such as the Clock Tower and the statue of Don Pedro de Heredia, the city’s founder, as well as less crowded areas of the old city.

Throughout the tour, you will experience the various influences—romantic, Moorish, colonial, military, Arab, Spanish, and North American—that have shaped Cartagena. Additionally, the guide will lead you through the Palace of the Inquisition, one of the city’s most emblematic buildings, and the Sanctuary of San Pedro Claver, in honor of the Spanish priest and missionary known as the “Slave of slaves” for his dedication to Africans brought as slaves to the Spanish colonies.

Day 8: Barú Island

Start your day with breakfast and then head to the dock for transfer. You will spend a fantastic day at the Barú Islands, near Cartagena. After a 60-minute journey, you’ll arrive at the Isla del Encanto hotel, located in the Corales del Rosario Park. It’s an ideal destination for families or anyone looking to enjoy a day on the island. The hotel offers a large swimming pool, a diverse lunch buffet, and comfortable beach chairs. It’s the perfect place to have fun and relax at the same time.

The trip includes transportation by speedboat or bus, depending on the number of people.

By boat: more than 20 people depart in speed boats
