Transfer to Bogotá airport (driver only) for flight (not included) to Medellín. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a professional guide who will accompany you to Medellín. The tour will begin with a focus on the History of Transformation. Twenty years ago, Medellín was one of the most dangerous cities in the world, especially during the hunt for Pablo Escobar, the leader of the Medellín drug cartel. However, significant changes have taken place since 2002, when local politicians with vision started investing in infrastructure and public education. Today, Medellín is known as the “City of Eternal Spring” and is recognized as one of the most innovative cities in the world. Join us on this tour to learn about the fascinating transformation of this metropolis. Accommodation will be provided in a selected hotel.

After breakfast, we will head east to visit one of the main reservoirs in Colombia, surrounded by beautiful hills and emerald green waters, which generate a significant amount of energy for local consumption and export. Our first stop will be the Piedra del Peñol, a massive monolith offering an impressive panoramic view of the reservoir and its surroundings after climbing 750 steps. We will then continue to the picturesque town of Guatapé and take a walk to capture the colorful streets through photographs.

Today, we will embark on a tour of Cartagena City, starting with a transfer from the Historic Center to the Popa convent, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Our next stop will be the San Felipe de Barajas fort, the largest fortress built by the Spanish in South America. Here, we will explore some of its tunnels and view the statue of Don Blas de Lezo. We will then head to the center of Cartagena to stroll through its main streets and squares.
Throughout the tour, our guide will share interesting facts about the history of Cartagena, including legends and pirate stories. While exploring the Historic Center, we will visit landmarks such as the Clock Tower and the statue of Don Pedro de Heredia, the founder of the city. Additionally, we will discover lesser-known areas of the old city with the help of an expert guide.
The tour will provide insights into the various influences that have shaped Cartagena, including romantic, Moorish, colonial, military, Arab, Spanish, and North American influences. We will also visit significant landmarks like the Palace of the Inquisition and the Sanctuary of San Pedro Claver, dedicated to the Spanish priest and missionary known as the “Slave of Slaves” for his work with African slaves in the Spanish colonies.
