This process has left behind the violence that once classified it as the most dangerous city in the world in the 1990s. Discover the history of Medellín and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Explore the famous Plaza Botero, which features an exhibition by Colombian artist Fernando Botero, known for his sculptures that have become symbols of the city. Take the MetroCable to Santo Domingo, a neighborhood that was once plagued by gang violence. Lastly, visit Comuna 13 and see how escalators, another innovative project, have improved the quality of life for its residents.

Start the day with breakfast and head east of the department to visit one of the main reservoirs in Colombia, which generates a large amount of energy for local consumption and export and is also surrounded by a beautiful landscape of hills around its emerald green waters. Visit the Piedra del Peñol, a gigantic monolith that offers an impressive panoramic view of the reservoir and the surrounding area after climbing 750 steps. The tour continues to the picturesque town of Guatapé, where you can take a walk and capture photographs in its colorful streets.

Our tour starts with a transfer from the Historic Center to the Popa Convent, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Additionally, the guide will lead you through the Palace of the Inquisition, one of the city’s most emblematic buildings, and the Sanctuary of San Pedro Claver, in honor of the Spanish priest and missionary known as the “Slave of slaves” for his dedication to Africans brought as slaves to the Spanish colonies.
